I was asked to replace a pair of bed side tables (night stands) with a larger version. So, I set out to build a pair of them and painted to match the existing furniture.

Floating Vanity Top with Drawer
The bathroom just wrapped up a renovation where two free-standing vanities were installed. There was ~30″ gap between the vanities which was perfect spot for an intermediate vanity that could be used while sitting.

The living room has a very large inset space next the fireplace that is holding a cabinet. The cabinet is not very functional. It is super deep, like 30″, but the shelves only go back about 26″, so stuff falls off the back. The doors open to 90 degrees, but the drawers always get caught on them. So, it was time to make it more functional, and better looking at the same time.

I was asked to create a small bench (seat) for an entryway. The house is a split-level and needed something by the front door, but it couldn’t be too large else it would take up valuable space. So, that is where custom furniture comes in.

With it being plastic and holding a fair amount of weight, it leans and falls into the washer and dryer and can’t stand on its own. So, I set out to create a custom cart made from wood.

The Plan
We have a corner in our living room where two couches meet and there is just a large empty space. So, we decided to make a table to fill that spot. The table would be about the same height as the couch arm rests and it would be nice to have a place to plug our electronics in for charging.

A friend of ours was looking for some large sliding barn doors to conceal a large opening. The room was previously a den, but will now be used for a bedroom. The opening is 69″ wide by 90″ tall. Two doors were used due to the size and they were completely made from pine.

It was time to replace a small cube shaped piece of furniture with a new A-Frame shelf. The shelf will be made from Maple and Walnut. Since the majority of our furniture is dark, black-brown, the maple will get painted. I started with 8/4 maple and 4/4 walnut. The shelf is roughly 80″ tall, 29″ wide, and 20″ deep
