I wanted to update the adapters or connection points that I make with the dust collection hose to the drops in my shop. I have had a couple close calls with the dust collection hose falling from the main central drop in my garage and hitting me in the head. There are also two other vertical drops and I occasionallly pull the hose off them. The adapter I am currently using is a tapered connector from Amazon (Woodstock W1038 4 ” connector). You can read more about the details of my dust collection here. I stumbled across a company making “locking” connectors called Fazlok and I decided to order one set of 4″ adapters.
AdapterDetails
Here is a quick overview of them. From the picture below you can see one end has a slot in it (with a twist) and one has a little “nub” or whatever you want to call that little thing on th e adapter on the right. The two adapters fit nicely together when joined.
The plastic is pretty thick and feels really stiff and sturdy. Here is a closer shot of the female side.
The female end (with the slot) fits pretty nicely onto the Powertec Aluminum Blast Gates I have. I needed a wrap or two of electrical tape to make the fit nice and tight. I reinfoce all these with a couple machine screws through the plastic and into the blast gate.
The male end connects nicely to a 4″ DC hose
As you can imagine the male adapter fits snugly into the female side and you make a small twist movement and the two adapters are locked together without fear of them coming apart.
Conclusion
I liked how much these worked that I ordered three more sets for the rest of my dust collection drops. I have to unplug all my DC hoses when the shop has to turn back into a garage for my wifes car and these make a secure and quick connection. Just what I was looking for. Great Product! I think I will have to look into the 2.5″ next.
